About Us
What we do
The Vishal Raju Bhagat Foundation carries forward his mission of fighting juvenile diabetes by granting funds for innovative research, improving education and advocacy within the general public, and improving the lives of children afflicted with diabetes and in need of assistance. The Foundation focuses its efforts on building sustainable relationships within our local communities to provide a positive, direct effect on the beneficiaries of its grants.
Vishal Bhagat - Our Inspiration
Vishal Bhagat was an active student at the University of Texas at Austin from 1998-2005. During this time he played roles in both service and social organizations. Vishal was afflicted with juvenile diabetes (Type 1) yet he never let his struggles with this draining condition keep him from leading an active life. Vishal understood that diabetes was a widespread illness that affects millions of children across the world. He envisioned an event that would combine his everyday struggle with one of his greatest loves, football, to help others. Find out more about Vishal.
Serving with Passion and Excellence
We were honored with a special Presentation by Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz in which the United States Congress made a Proclamation on April 20, 2010 the American Flag at the United States Capital in Washington, D.C. was flown in honor and memory of Vishal Bhagat. The Proclamation and Flag were presented to Raju Bhagat, father of Vishal and President of the Foundation. It serves as a testament to the passion of our supporters and excellence in service to the community by the organization.
Our Signature Event: Memorial Golf Tournament
Our Signature Event
Our primary fund-raising event is the Annual Vishal Bhagat Memorial Golf Tournament. Through unyeilding support from our sponsors, partners, and volunteers we have raised over $2 million for charity thus far.
Our Signature Event is Back! The 19th annual Memorial Tournament has been scheduled for November 7th & 8th 2025.
More details will be made available mid-August as we finalize plans with our board, community and partners.
